How to fix “unattended-upgrades has an invalid filename extension”

When you update your distribution or simply update packages, you may get a warning like this:

N: Ignoring file '50unattended-upgrades.ucf-dist' in directory '/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/' as it has an invalid filename extension

If you are sure you don’t need it anymore, you can remove with this command:

sudo rm /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades.ucf-dist
